Linda Kirvan attended Dunbarton College in Washington, DC. She also studied art and design at American University, Mount Vernon College, Montgomery College, The Art League, the Easton Studio School and The Yellow Barn Studio. She has worked in watercolor, oil, and various methods of printmaking. She has attended workshops and demonstrations with many area teachers and nationally known artists. A combination of plein air and studio painting gives her the opportunity to use different media under varying conditions. Her love of nature and the landscape is a driving force in her work, and she is especially challenged by capturing a moment in time and the ever changing light in the landscape. Touches of color, both opaque and transparent, and thick and thin, are woven together with energetic brushstrokes to create a new reality on a two dimensional surface.

Past affiliations with professional organizations have included Montgomery County Art Association; Washington Water Color Association; A.Salon, Bethesda Artspace. She is currently active in Potomac Valley Watercolorists; The Art League; The Academy Art Museum, Easton, MD; Mid-Atlantic Plein Air Painters Association; Oil Painters of America and Friends of the Yellow Barn. She is a member of Gallery 322 in Frederick, MD. She has taken leadership positions in many art organizations. Her exhibition credits include group and solo shows including juried group shows, invitational shows and one person shows. She has participated in special projects including wall murals, program cover designs, and collaborative art projects with children, plein air competitions, the Easton banner program and private commissions.

The act of painting is a continuing journey of joy and discovery. Her quest is to continue to study and learn through participation in classes, workshops and painting trips both locally and internationally.

Her work work is on display at Galley 322, 322 North Market Street, Frederick, MD 21701, www.gallery-322.com or on her web site, www.lindakirvan.com. She may be reached by email at linda@lindakirvan.com.
